FAQ

Answers to common questions about getting started, building with Moo UI, and licensing.

Getting started

Moo UI is a Bootstrap 5.3-native component system with a restrained, shadcn-inspired visual language. It keeps Bootstrap's markup, variables, and JavaScript plugins wherever Bootstrap already provides the contract, and adds small documented extensions for the gaps it doesn't, including Chart, Combobox, Context Menu, DataTable, Date Picker, Slider, and Sidebar.

No. Most components need only the stylesheet and ordinary HTML. moo-ui.css is a complete Bootstrap CSS build with Moo UI defaults — you use it instead of another Bootstrap stylesheet, not in addition to one. The README shows a working example you can copy in about thirty seconds.

Yes. Keep your existing Bootstrap stylesheet, load the scoped moo.css after it, and wrap only the region you're migrating in a .moo-ui boundary. Start with one screen and adopt the rest later, or replace the full stylesheet up front.

Building with Moo UI

No — and that's the point. Bootstrap keeps owning native behavior: Dropdown, Modal, Offcanvas, Tooltip, Popover, Toast, and the other plugins stay on Bootstrap's own bundle. Moo UI only publishes optional, side-effect-free ESM for the behavior gaps Bootstrap doesn't cover.

Each one is explicit — importing it never scans the document automatically. You call getOrCreateInstance on the element you care about, for example DataTable.getOrCreateInstance(document.querySelector('.datatable')) for sorting, filtering, selection, pagination, and responsive card sync.

Every component reads Bootstrap theme tokens, so flipping data-bs-theme retints the whole interface. Try the site's own theme toggle on this page — the switch flips the same token Moo UI components consume.

Licensing & support

MIT. The source code is free to use in commercial projects, internal tools, and client work alike. WPMoo-generated visual assets stay separately protected, and vendored dependencies keep their original licenses.

Moo UI is at the {{ product.version }} release candidate. The package's certification manifest has {{ product.certification.status }} status — WPMoo-maintained evidence, not independent accreditation. The Support & Evidence page spells out the supported Bootstrap range, browser policy, and limitations.

Start with the GitHub issue tracker — the README's “Report an issue” link lands there. Small documentation corrections, reduced reproductions, accessibility checks, and bounded component improvements are welcome; the contributing guide covers how.
